If it’s only Tuesday and you’re already asking this, you’re not alone.
Hi, I’m Steve. I help mid-to-high level business professionals who feel burnt out, overwhelmed, and paralyzed by indecision find clarity and a path forward.
You’ve probably been pushing through, hoping things will get better. Maybe you’ve told yourself that once you hit that next goal, the stress will fade. Or everyone’s favorite lie to tell themselves “It will slow down, work will get easier, it’s just a busy time right now.”
But the stress hasn’t faded, and the work is still intense. You’re stuck in a cycle—busy and exhausted, successful on paper and unfulfilled in reality.
I’ve been there and it felt like a shit show. I was burnt out, watching other people thrive while I felt like I was running in place.
I was afraid of losing financial security when I knew in my heart the job I had was not fulfilling. I was afraid of trusting my gut and continued to take jobs that I knew were not good for me. I was afraid of chasing my dreams because how could I risk everything in my mid to late thirties and start over?
I felt pigeonholed and stuck.
Every part of my life started to suffer. I kept working harder and harder for that next promotion when the goal post kept moving and my health started to break under the strain. I became angry and bitter, and my relationships and friendships took a backseat. Work sucked everything out of me, and I didn’t have energy to think my way out of it.
The worst part was, I was mad at myself for not following my gut and regretting my decisions. This ultimately led to depression, which is when I hit rock bottom. It wasn’t until I had to take a medical leave of absence that I finally had the time and the space to realize how toxic my work, and attitude toward work, had become.
I used to think that I wanted to be rich and famous, and I chased money and success relentlessly throughout my 20s and 30s. But the definition of “success” I was chasing wasn’t sustainable, realistic, or even what I really wanted. I just couldn’t see that until I stepped away.
It took two years to really decompress and do the deep work—I had to examine my identity outside of my career, enlist a therapist to help me unpick where I’d been compromising myself and why, and deconstruct what had been driving me. Somewhere along the way I’d forgotten my desire to make an impact by helping others.
It finally clicked when I was talking to one of my wife’s friends who had also been an overachiever in the corporate world, but who’d switched to becoming a life coach—and she was really happy. I realized I had career experience and life experience, I had managed depression, anxiety and overwork, and I’d found more balance on the other side than I knew was possible. I knew I wanted to share that with other people.
Balance doesn’t come from your calendar. It comes from mastering your inner game. Becoming aware of how you got here, and why, and where you actually want to be, are the first steps. There’s a reason why you’ve been working so hard, and it might seem like you’re doing it to reach some external goal—but, SPOILER, it’s likely something much deeper. What’s been driving you to the edge of burnout, exhaustion, and temper flares is on the inside. Let’s figure that out first and then plan what you really want.
It’s the inner work that creates the space for clarity. And it can get emotional when we dig to find the motivations underneath, but that’s the road to achieving outcomes that are truly meaningful for you. Without crashing into burnout.
Today, after completing my own life coach training, I use a psychology-based assessment along with my career and life experience to guide others to find balance, create space, and get in touch with what they really want—so they can find their energy and passion again.
I’ve developed a program that helps you identify where you’re showing up in your life—and where you’re not—so you can gain clarity, take action, and finally get what you want.
